DNA diet to help people lose weight?

A new ‘DNA diet’ is promising to help people lose weight, after helping people to lose an average 11 pounds over four months in testing.
The Nordiska diet, which was developed with help from Newcastle University scientists, works on the basis that genetic testing can reveal the correct food and exercise regime for each individual.

People who want to shape up in this way will have to shell out £99 for the gene test itself, and the £159 package includes three months of advice from dieticians.
Those embarking on the programme must fill out a questionnaire and send a DNA swab of their mouth to a laboratory for testing.
The individual is then assigned one in four types of diet – low in fat, low in carbohydrate, low in gylcaemic properties or healthy balanced.

Research in Denmark saw nine out of ten people put on the plan lose weight, with some losing as much as 26lbs in four months.
